AMBIENT MUSIC(Incorporating Techno, Trance)
In this department you will find a wide range of mainly instrumental recordings selected from our database of over 12,500 worldwide available titles in this genre. It’s a wide selection of material that draws from the 90's ‘Ambient’, ‘Techno’ and ‘Trance’ markets and beyond – By ‘Ambient’, we refer to music in the spacey, dance-derived, melodic, rhythmic and ‘chill-out’ styles, as pioneered by groups such as The Orb and Biosphere in the 90’s. This variation of ‘Electronic Music’ has evolved over the years to encompass a vast number of groups and individual artists covering an even wider range of music within the genre – Multi-layered and uplifting music, mostly with melodies and rhythms, but sometimes just atmospheric, and most definitely enjoyable as a form of 'serious listening music' in it’s own right. Also included is a wide variety of the more dance-derived instrumental side of this genre - From Psychedelic and Goa-Trance through Techno and Minimalist to Drum'n'Bass and beyond, we cover what we term as the “cream of the crop”, and not simply everything that gets a release. To list a few samples, you’ll find CD’s by the likes of: Appaloosa, Apollo 440, Ambient Temple Of Imagination, Astralasia, Atom Heart, Banco De Gaia, Biosphere, Chicane, Gabor Csupo, Delerium, Eat Static, Future Sound Of London, Higher Intelligence Agency, Communication, Juno Reactor, Loop Guru, Mali Rain, Optica, Rapoon, Sandoz and Skyray. A major player in our ‘Ambient’ music department listings is pioneer of the genre: Pete Namlook, and his vast range of solo and collaborative albums are heavily featured, as are all the other artists on Namlook's prolific Fax records.
