TRANCE A.D. (FANTASTIC TRANCE REMIXES OF AD TRKS)
 |
TECHNO/TRANCE (AMBIENT)A.D. Music is one of the most musically satisfying of all the UK based ‘Synth’ music labels, with names like David Wright, Robert Fox, Code Indigo, Bekki Williams and Robert de Fresnes on its artist roster. Now they have spread their wings and collaborated with a team of ‘Trance’ DJ’s and re-mixers that are proven experts in their field, and the combined forces of this talented group of individuals has produced an album that uses tracks from the ADML roster as it’s source material, and worked it into the context of an amazing ‘Trance’ music album – and to say it works well, is like saying that Pete Tong or Judge Jules are a bit talented as DJ’s – In other words, this is one phenomenal barnstormer of an album! The entire seventy-four set is a mix of pace and dynamics - The way the 12 tracks build in tension and then release in a rush of adrenalin fuelled rhythm works to perfection, building layer upon layer of new sounds and body rhythms up to heights of almost unbridled musical listening pleasure. Allied to a mix of musical sensibilities and a contemporary electronic dance construction, ‘T.A.D.’ makes for the first ‘Trance’ music CD to have essentially come out of the ‘Synth’ music community – It’s the first of it’s type to stand head and shoulders alongside the cream of what the current ‘Trance’ scene has to offer, and actually eclipses a lot of it in the process. Whether you are of a mind to get up on the floor and dance, or hide in the safe haven of the sidelines, or just stay at home for a night in with your stereo, this album has enough energy and excitement to provide equal levels of ‘high’ no matter where of how you listen to it You can’t say it’s the best ‘Trance’ music CD around right now – BUT IT IS!!!
History: For a long time, as long as man can remember (well, around ’92, actually), there has been a distinction between what is classed as ‘Synth’ music and what is classed as ‘Ambient’ music. It is from the ‘Ambient’ and ‘House’ music scenes that ‘Trance’ music emerged, and made electronic music the major world-wide force to be recognised globally in armchairs and dance-floors alike, as DJ’s and artists produced music that would scale heights of ecstasy previously unseen in the old ‘Synth’ music culture. This was music of quality AND excitement! Many from the ‘Synth’ fraternity tried their hand at producing ‘Trance’ or dance-style albums, and nearly every one fell flat as they simply didn’t have the feel for or general understanding of what constituted a good ‘Trance’ music release. On the other side of the coin, the ‘Trance’ music genre became overloaded with CD’s so that you had to look and listen hard to sift the good from the bad - The immediate, yet ultimately dissatisfying from the immediate and long-lasting. To marry the two successfully, not only on a musical level, but also producing an incredible gem of an album, seemed all but impossible... until now that is!!! For a start, and this is the most important factor here, the whole feel, sound and construction of what constitutes the very best in any ‘Trance’ music album, are all on ‘Trance A.D.’, and they are here by the truckload. The opening track alone comes across both as a magical listening experience in its own right, yet one that virtually defies you to remain still or seated when the rhythms kick in and take hold! It mixes the dynamics of ‘Trance’ with the melody of synth and the irresistibility of ‘Dance’ to such an amazing extent that it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck every time you hear it, and the samples used in this case are from A.D. music artist Robert de Fresnes. As the best in what melodic ‘Trance’ is all about, believe me when I say – This IS as good as it gets! However, it most certainly doesn’t end there, as, continuously mixed in the tradition of the best trance music albums, track after track is just utterly exciting – it’s the only word for it – musically satisfying, contemporary, immediate, long-lasting, fantastic sound, production and construction. The Labyrinth track that samples the already exciting music of Bekki Williams is about the finest intermeshing of the melodic qualities of ‘Synth’ with the electrifying spark of ‘Trance’ that you’ll ever hear. An even more soothing flowing example of that style emerges just prior to the bass-synth rhythms and cascading sequencers of OV1 sampling Raviv Gazit kick in, and this cut takes the music up yet another level, as the uplifting feel of ‘Trance’ returns to the foreground, starting a journey that flies higher and higher, to converge back-to-back with a Dave Wright-sampled track of equal vibrancy. Just Amazing!
