POSTVORTA
CLASSIC (AMBIENT)With a vast concoction of drums, keyboards, guitars, bass guitar, percussion, balalaika, Egyptian reed pipes, Tibetan singing bowls, cymbals, singing bells, voice samples and other electronic devices making up this fantastic sonic instrumental brew, the end result is a vibrant 5 track album that features almost seventy minutes of stunning sounds that are so very definitely in a world of their own. The music is extraordinarily multi-layered, hypnotic and magical with influences from the likes of Steve Hillage, Gong and early Kraftwerk along the way. Devoid of clichés – this is fresh and exciting new music that will sound as great in years to come as it does right now.
‘Biomass Transputer’ starts things off with a brilliant eleven minutes of, almost Can/Faust-like drum pattern, so simple, yet so effective. Over this is a wide range of multi-layered sound textures and sonic landscapes that dive and soar, over, in and around the mix, creating a totally hypnotic and magical music that draws you in and doesn't let you go. ‘Extended Life’ kicks off with more electronics, then gorgeous echoed guitar/samples, synths and layers of other electronics instruments usher in another superb rhythm pattern, this time, based around the delicate use of cymbals. This takes place under a vast echoed canopy of electronic voices which in turn form a sound collage with occasional additional rhythms and sound textures that are flying off in all directions as the melody soars on through the mix. Yet again, this creates a mind-blowing composition with so much going on, and at such a high level of enjoyment that you'll want to play it over and over again; and we're only on track 2 at this point! This moves on to ‘Postvorta’ which is made up of instrumental passages with Steve Hillage style echoed guitar, bells, synths, percussion, flutes, in a 70's meets 90's cross of Gong, Hillage, early Kraftwerk and instrumental John Martyn, totally uniquely structured, melodically brilliant and stunningly produced too. From here on, you enter such a vast world of extraordinary, melodic, rhythmic, multi-layered, multi-textured and mind-expanding music with seven melodious and drifting, but rhythmically spellbinding minutes of ‘Winged Beings’, and then the final twenty-one minutes are taken up by ‘Human and Euyyueh’ – A track that starts out in crystalline ambient music territory, evolving into a collage of rhythms and samples that take you right off into the heavens.
